But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Tim 6:6
It is no small feat, nothing more powerful than one’s desire to live a simple life; free from the struggles and strifes of getting more. Materialism takes another form; something far more deceitful and for more sinister; that when the chase for money, possession and power have led humanity to raise its ugly form that is so evidential today in our world. To live a simple life must force oneself to forsake the chase for the meaningless thing and trust in God for all my needs. And to do that, we will look beyond the physical world of this present moment to eternity; that our worth is not filled with values of the temporal but in that we live for that eternity in mind.
